Octoberfest

Tomorrow Chuck and I are gonna go to the Octoberfest hes so excited. We are taking a bus trip through the USO. The last two years hes been in the field and this is our last year here and he really wants to go. We leave early in the morning and come back early on Sunday. I will post pictures and stuff on Sunday.

The history of Octoberfest

The first Octoberfest was held in the year 1810 in honour of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage to Princess Therese of Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities began October 12, 1810 and ended on October 17th with a horse race. In the following years the celebrations were repeated and later the festival was prolonged and moved to September. In September the warmer nights allowed visitors to enjoy the outdoor gardens, or the atomsphere of the beer tents, or a stroll over to Wiesen continues into present times.

Bye,
Amy
