Happy Easter

Happy Easter to our family and friends in the states and in Germany. Today we went to church and then we went to the bowling alley with Rayann, John, Max and Nina for breakfast and pictures with the bunny rabbit. After that Chuck, John and the kids bowled and Rayann and I watched them. The kids played some video games and then we came home..We had a fun morning hanging out with them. Now we are just getting ready to go to our friends house for Easter dinner and then gonna come home and relax. I hope that all of you have a Happy Easter today.

Some interesting facts about Easter.

Show Me The Bunny!

. In Pre Christian times, the rabbit was viewed as natures most fertile animal and therefore became a symbol of spring.

. Its first mention as an Easter symbol is from 16th-century German writings.

. In the 1800s, Germans produced the first edible Easter bunnies of pastry and sugar.

. Around that sametime, German settlers brought the Easter bunny, knowen as Oschter Haws, to the New World. Children were told that if they were good Oschter Haws would leave them colored eggs in a nest.

Happy Eostre!
Today Christians celebrate the Resurrection of Christ....but the "Easter" really comes from Eostre, the dawn goddess of AngloSaxon myth. Before the advent of Christianity she was honored with an annual festival at the begining of Spring. It was also ancient pre eggs-a symbol of birth and ressurection as gifts in the spring. Today, we call them Easter Eggs.

Hugs,
Amy and Chuck

Delightful Easter greeting all the way down to the mac & cheese! You've brightened our day. Joe is back in CS, Aaron took Grandma and Jon to the 12:05 Mass. Your Mom and I went to the Vigil Mass, which was really uplifting. Included an adult baptism, confirmation of another 8 or so adults and of course the Easter fire - the lighting of everyone's candles in the darkened church. Was a joyous celebration of the resurection. We're having lamb and chicken spiedies for dinner. We'll be thinking of you.
Love,
Dad
